Help your child sign in and use the student portal

How students sign in with their login card, and where to find homework, puzzle practice, games with classmates and online classes.

Written for: Students and parentsUpdated

Steps

  1. On the sign-in page, select Student login. Enter the Academy code, Username and Password from the login card, then select Sign in to student portal.

  2. The student lands on Your learning. It shows today’s plan, today’s puzzle and the practice streak. Open Your classes, work and progress to see Upcoming sessions, Assignments, My courses and the student’s own games.

  3. Under Assignments, each piece of homework shows its due date and status. Select Open. Some work opens with a button such as Open puzzle set, Open lesson, Open sparring or Open Guess-the-Move.

  4. For a written assignment, type in Your answer and select Submit your work.

  5. Open Practice from the navigation. Solve the Due now puzzles first. Then, under Practise new puzzles, choose a Theme and a Level (Easier, Just right or Harder) and select Start a set.

  6. Open Play to find Challenge a batchmate and select Challenge next to a classmate. Incoming challenges have Accept and Decline. Select Play a bot to play the computer.

  7. For an online class, the session under Upcoming sessions shows Join class or Join now ↗ once the room opens, 10 minutes before the start.

Good to know

  • A class link or QR code from the academy can open the student login with the academy code already filled in.
  • If the details are wrong, the page asks you to check the academy code, username and password on the login card. The code and username are at least 3 characters, and the password is at least 8.
  • If the student sees Ask your parent to finish setup, a parent or guardian needs to open their family invitation and agree to class information.
  • If the student sees that their account is not linked to a student, ask your parent or coach for the kid login.
  • The student navigation has Your learning, Classes, Courses, Practice, Play and Settings. Training appears only if the academy has turned it on.
  • Some practice puzzles come from mistakes in the student’s own games. After many new puzzles in one day, new ones stop until the next day, but due puzzles stay available.
  • Games with classmates have no free-text chat.
  • Sparring homework against the computer needs a verified date of birth and, for students under 18, parental consent.
  • Students do not see invoice details. They only see a note that the family has an invoice, which a parent can view in the parent portal.
  • If a student record is archived, the portal shows History-only access. Past work can be viewed, but new classes, assignments, puzzles and games are unavailable until the academy restores it.
