Chess progress report template
Progress report for a parent update: attendance, rating, themes and one next step.
Six timed phases for one class, with a filled 45-minute example. Copy it into a document.
Use it in ChessCore
The same records, kept on each student
A printed sheet holds one game or one month. These two ChessCore features keep the same records in the academy’s software.
Chess progress reports that write and send themselves
Chess student progress tracking is following each student across a season on recorded signals: attendance, game results, ratings and coach notes, and turning those into a report. ChessCore keeps all four in one record. AI-written report text is approved by a coach, and automatic monthly emails, when an academy switches them on, carry the records with no AI text.
Chess game analysis your coaches don’t have to type up
Chess game analysis for coaches is the workflow of importing a student’s games, having an engine flag the coachable mistakes, and reviewing the moments that matter. In ChessCore games sync from Lichess and Chess.com or load as PGN, Stockfish evaluates, the AI explains, and a coach sends what it drafts.

Can I edit the fields on this template?
You cannot type into the brackets on this page. Print and write by hand, or fill it in with the generator. If you want a monthly report built from attendance, ratings and games already in your records, ChessCore’s student progress tracking does that; its layout is its own, not this six-block sheet.
Is notation compulsory on a chess score sheet?
In standard play, yes. The FIDE Laws of Chess taking effect from 1 January 2023, Article 8.1.1, require each player to record both sides’ moves, move by move, as clearly as possible, in algebraic notation (Appendix C) on the scoresheet prescribed for the competition, or on a FIDE-certified electronic scoresheet. The duty pauses when a player has less than five minutes left and does not have 30 seconds or more added with each move (Article 8.4). Rapid games do not require players to record moves (Appendix A.2). Blitz follows that rapid rule unless the event puts an arbiter on every board and records the game (Appendix B).
What if I forget to write a move?
Article 8.1.3 lets you answer a move before you write it, but you must record your previous move before you play another. If you skipped a line, fill it from the board and your opponent’s sheet as soon as you notice. Do not write future moves in advance (Article 8.1.2). If the sheet is incomplete because you were under five minutes without a 30-second increment (Article 8.4), update it after a flag fall from the opponent’s sheet or the arbiter’s (Article 8.5). If no complete sheet exists, reconstruct the game on a second board under the arbiter (Article 8.5.3).
